Dirt bikes are made available for everyone. Even kids can have their own dirt bikes. Although, it is a little smaller than the dirt bikes made for adults, but it has almost the same performance as larger dirt bikes.
However, these bikes are only available on 50cc and 100cc models, as to ensure the kids’ safety (100cc and higher models are very speedy and children may not be able to handle this speed). There are also other types of children dirt bikes called “electric dirt bikes”, which is safer than gas-powered dirt bikes. Always do remember that risks and dangers are always present in these dirt bikes, regardless if it’s gas-powered or electric-powered.
These dirt bikes are available on your nearest local sporting goods shop, or can be bought on the Internet. However, these bikes do not come cheap, as their price reaches as high as $2000 or even higher, accessories and other equipments are not included.
Buying cheap dirt bikes is a really hard task, but you can get a good deal if you’re persistent enough in scouring the different shops in your area. You can also find good deals in the Internet by visiting auction sites such as eBay. Other websites also sell cheap dirt bikes and will sometimes offer you test runs if you’re near their vicinity.
Also, there are certain company brands that sell their dirt bikes at a rather reasonable price. Kawasaki and Honda are among the brands that sell cheaper and more affordable dirt bikes, ranging from $1000 - $1500. Sometimes, they’ll include accessories and equipments as freebies, saving you a lot of money in the process. Bundles and packages (from stores) will also save you a lot of money.
Before deciding on purchasing one, make sure to bring along some information on your child (e.g. height, weight, age), as this is vital information when choosing and buying a dirt bike. A wrong bike (specification) may lead to an unpleasant ride for the child, and it may even cause injuries. Also, make sure that your child has the ability to ride an ordinary bike first, as balance is very much needed for a dirt bike. Be sure to instruct and guide him or her along the way to ensure a pleasurable ride.
