Honda Dirt Bikes

The largest automobile manufacturer in Japan, Honda, has also taken interest in developing dirt bikes for motocross racers worldwide, developing dirt bikes, as well as other sport bikes for racers.

Honda started out on 1948. Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda, had a great interest in automobiles. He started out as a contractor for the soon-thriving Toyota Company, developing and constructing piston designs for them. When World War II broke out, Honda, who was unable to use his car due to shortage on gasoline, tried to attach an engine in his bike, which sparked the interest of many people. He then started his own company, named Honda Technical Research Institute, and started producing 2-cycle motorbike engines. By 1964, the company was renamed to Honda Motor Company, and it became the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.

Honda has offices all around the globe. They have branches on China, the USA, Canada, England, London, and many other countries. Currently, it is still the largest manufacturer of motorcycles, even having a 1% sales increase while its rivals, Toyota and Detroit Big Three, suffered some losses in the recent economy drop.

Honda dirt bikes are very popular amongst motocross racers, because it is very easy to handle, that even novice riders can handle one perfectly fine. Among the most popular bikes of Honda, is the Honda XR250, which is one of the bikes in the Honda XR series. This dirt bike has two versions, the R and L versions, with the difference being the R version not street legal, and the other is legal for public use. Both are very reliable, and can handle off-road tracks very well, although the XR250R can do better than the other. With decent speed and great handling capability, it’s no wonder why it is used frequently on motocross races.

Other samples of Honda dirt bikes, is the Honda CR85R Expert, which is part of the Honda CR series. Like the XR series, they also have two versions. This bike is for the more experienced rider, as the name suggests. Its engine is more powerful than that of the XR series, twice than that of the previous line.

Very little are known about Honda’s plans on making new dirt bikes for the upcoming year, as they are more focused on other fields such as robotics and other vehicles. Although, it is safe to say that they will develop better dirt bikes, as they are the largest motorcycle manufacturing company, and it would be a waste if they wouldn’t continue on doing so.
